Red pencil dress

Red pencil dress

Asos is awesome because they tell you the height of the model. I’m 5’11.75″ so this is super helpful for me in getting an idea of how things will fit.

This dress is similar although lower cut.  If you prefer sleeveless, they have this one and this one.  I love the long sleeves on this dress.

Wine of the week: Duncan Peak

Full disclosure: Duncan Peak is a vineyard in California run by  my uncle.  However, this relationship has given me the opportunity to taste the wine over the years, and it is consistently delicious.  This is not only my opinion – the wine has won a gold medal in the San Francisco Chronicle Northern California Wine Competition, and has received rave reviews from others as well.

It’s a little over $40, which isn’t super inexpensive (especially when you add shipping), but it’s a very fun treat to have once in a while or to give as a gift.

I don’t think they sell it in the DC area, but it can be ordered online here.

Your Friday Jam

So this Friday’s jam isn’t quite as uplifting as previous posts, but it is quite the amazing piece of music.  I was unaware of this song (or the band – The Handsome Family) until I became enraptured with HBO’s newest hit, “True Detective“.  It is a truly epic theme song for one of the best television shows in recent history.

Beach bag

beach bag

Sadly, this beach bag has been too well loved and I will be looking for another one for this summer.

I’ve been having a tough time locating something, but this striped bag from Kohl’s comes close.  So does this Heidi Klein bag.  I’ll continue to keep my eyes out this spring!

Pool Party

Pool Party

I love this bikini – I have it in both white and black from this past season.  The earrings sparkly but not heavy so they’re good for dancing.

Wine of the week: Château Arnauld Haut Médoc

Château Arnauld Haut Médoc

The wine pictured above is from my parents’ wedding year.  This wine from southwestern France is still being made, but is less easy to find.  Today, it averages about $23.

La moto en été

La moto en été

In honor of the one-year anniversary of having purchased my Honda CBR600RR,  I’d like to anticipate another great year with my bike with a post about my summer outfit (above).

My Spidi jacket is from two years ago, so it looks a little different than the one above.  It’s mesh, so it’s easy to hand wash.  My boots are Michael Kors and Nine West, not Jimmy Choo.  My blue t-shirt is my favorite thing to layer under the jacket, although if it’s super hot in DC traffic, I often switch to a sleeveless top.

Your Friday Jam

Happy Valentine’s Day, for those of you into that sort of thing.  Even if you’re not into love and mushy stuff, you’ll still enjoy these 27 love songs wrapped into 1, courtesy of Chester See.

What is love?

Eyelashes & Arai

Eyelashes & Arai

What girl doesn’t need to look fabulous when stepping off her bike?

Although the New York Times warns against wearing false lashes on a motorcycle over 25 mph, I have found that I can go 80+ as long as my Arai helmet has the visor closed.  (Note: I have been wearing my facemask which may make a difference.)

The main challenge arises when putting on/taking off my helmet.  I have found that if I take the helmet on and off straight up and down, my lashes generally stay put. Here’s another fabulous chick rocking false lashes & a bike.
