A capital city essential

In a land of red lights, road rage and motorcades…

It’s the road that gets you from upper northwest DC to downtown in 15 minutes. It’s the road that makes going to Cap Hill a pleasant adventure instead of a grueling waste of time. It’s the road that makes it easy to get to see all your friends in VA. It’s the road that, as long as I live in DC, I will live near.

Rock creek parkway.

While one of my relatives mistook Rock Creek for the Potomac, she did not mistake the convenience of the cool relaxing forest drive. It’s on par with Clara Barton parkway and that road that goes to Alexandria.

If you don’t know this Rock Creek, and you live in the DC area, I highly recommend you learn it soon. The road is even google-mappable now. Just beware – the car in front of you may hit a deer. In addition, between 6:45-9:30 AM, the parkway goes only downtown, and from 3:45-6:30 PM, it goes only away from downtown. http://www.nps.gov/rocr/faqs.htm#CP_JUMP_68721 Cars are known to wait at the entrances to the parkway 15 minutes before it opens. And I don’t blame them – it’s worth it!

…this is also how I’m getting home tonight!!
